| Joe Wright Jr. Joe, “JG” you were a son, uncle, father, grandfather, and brother. What a brother you were! In January 1950 you couldn’t have had a happier mother and father! You were born! Little did they know there troubles had just begun! They soon found out… As a kid growing up in the 50’s and 60’s you experienced many era changes. On a family trip to Yellowstone National Park, being their only son at that time, you would have fun teasing your two sisters. What better way to do that but to lead us up a mountain side, make us think we were lost, and run away leaving us to fin for ourselves. We didn’t know you were watching from afar making sure all was well… Oh, better yet, throwing hail during a hailstorm at us and making sure we got caught throwing them back at you. How about locking us out the house and scaring us when mom and dad were gone. It was all in fun. In the 60’s you were an usher for the Beatles when they played in City Park stadium. But to be cool, a guy couldn’t admit he liked the Beatles, it was a girl thing. But as a male teenager you had it figured out, what better way to meet girls, there would definitely be lots of them there… It was a couple years after that our mom and dad; announced the news of a new addition to the family. I remember you telling me if it wasn’t a dog it better be a brother; another sister would drive you crazy. Your wish came true. There was finally as many guys as gals in the family. But you were still the boss! Then you grew up, “some”, and decided to take on the world, Marriage seemed to be your hardest challenge, but you gave it a whirl, more then a few times. They might have failed, but out of them you were blessed with your beautiful children and grandchildren. In the 70’s and 80’s, disco was in, I know you thought you were John Travolta, just look at your picture with Santa. White suit and all… those were happy times JG, you always went big. You couldn’t just go to Disco places like the average Joe. You had to buy one. Oh, the fun we had there…. You had interest in computers even back when only large companies had them; there were no home computers then. You took computer language in college and built a career with the knowledge. You went on to build your own web hosting business, which allowed you to retire at 48 years of age. Most people only dream of what you have accomplished! JG, you loved a good party but you being you, no one could give a party like you did. You turned your great room into a Great Bar. A 500 CD changer so music could play for days. Two pools out back weren’t enough, oh no, it got too cold outside in the winter. So you installed an 8 person hot tub, inside, off the bar area. Which I’m sure stayed quite heated all year round……… As if that wasn’t enough you turned your back room into a mini movie theater, staring Star Trek. You added a big screen TV and life size models. When people would step into this room there heart pounded, thinking they just ran into Spock himself or Captain Kirk. You put the real meaning into “Beam me up Scotty”… You were also very witty. You knew something about everything. Even if you didn’t, you had the knack for making everyone think you did… You were a funny guy. For your web hosting business you couldn’t even leave a normal message when you were away from your desk. You would say, “I’m not at my desk now my server is running and I have to go catch it. Old Cliché? Yes, but it still brought a smile to many faces… People all over the world loved your web sites and enjoyed the smiles you gave with each link. You gave smiles to people as far away as Indonesia, and as close as Metairie and River Ridge where you lived. Here are just a few things people would say about you and your sites. From: Chalmette: I love your web site. You did a wonderful job with it. ndonesia: This is the best website that I ever seen, I like this website Metairie: Great site! Would love to see your home someday! Baton Rouge: I am looking for an invite to your next party ranklinton: If there were more people like you Joe, this world (and the Internet) would be a much better place! Thanks friend! How much more could one person be loved? Even strangers wished there were more people like you in the world! I will leave everyone with this thought: Footprints One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me." The Lord replied, "My son, My precious child, I love you, and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." JG, you will be greatly missed. Your footprints have been left for many to follow. We love you brother. God Bless you and may you rest in peace! |
